PRESS NOTE-ALIMCO signs MoU with RECL for implementing their CSR-Project New Delhi – 31-01-2014

An agreement has been inked between Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation Of India (ALIMCO), a PSE under Ministry of Social Justice and Empowermentand renowned PSU, Rural Electrification Corporation Ltd. (RECL) for the second consecutive year for the provision of assessment and distribution of Aids and Appliances to the Persons with Disabilities on31st January 2014 at RECL’s corporate headquarter in New Delhi.

The agreement valuing Rs.350 Lakh for RECL’s CSR initiative, to implement the project for the purpose of providing Aids and Assistive devices to Persons with Disabilities(PwDs) and other differently able population from economically weaker section of Society is in continuation with similar projects successfully completed earlier .

The agreement was signed byLt. Col (Retd.) P K Dube, GM, ALIMCO on behalf of ALIMCO and Shri P.J. Thakkar Director(Technical), REC in the august presence of Shri Rajeev Sharma CMD, REC, Shri Ajeet Agarwal Director(Finance) and Shri G Narayan Rao, CMD , ALIMCO. Shri Awanish Awasthi, IAS, Joint Secretary, Department of Disability affairs, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment was present to grace the occasion. Also present on the occasion were Mr.Rakesh Arora, GM (Finance), REC alongwith gentry of officials from REC, headquarter.

ALIMCO which has recently appeared in the list of 27 National Champion PSU has bagged this repeat contract for FY 13-14 under which CSR activities will be undertaken at 15 locations covering 7 states. Earlier during FY 12-13 ten camps where successfully conducted in 6 states which have been greatly appreciated by beneficiaries, public representative and the society in general.

Besides above CSR initiative being taken on yearly basis, there are also talks for long term association between REC and ALIMCO in establishment of a permanent Limb Fitting Centres (LFC) at REC preferred locations by ALIMCO in coming years. Once completed, the project would cater for needs of disabled population of the area on a permanent basis.


Shri G.Narayan Rao, CMD, ALIMCO has thanked REC partners and praised dedicated team of ALIMCO’s officers and personnel whose hard work has not only brought the peerless growth of corporation but also established its presence in National and International arena in disability sector.
